WISH LESS gallery では、音楽家・サウンドデザイナーとして活躍する黒瀧節也のALTER EGO「SETH BLACK」と自身を多彩に変容させ、クリエイションの可能性を探求するマルチアーティスト「KODAGENKOU」による二人展「TEN」を開催いたします。
二人の音楽的感性が視覚的に交差し、抽象と具象の境界線に迫ります。
［ 展示によせて ］
本コラボレート展は、
10周年を迎えた東京・北区田端にあるギャラリー＆ショップ「WISH LESS」への感謝を込めて、
天高く馬肥ゆる秋の日に開催しようと企画されました。
KODAGENKOUとSETH BLACKは
独自の朧げな視点で世界を捉え
抽象と具象の境界線を滲ませた作品をそれぞれ10点づつ展示いたします。
KODAGENKOU初の展示となるテーマは「曖昧」
「音、色、形、香」を再構築し、偶然性を感じさせる作風は
鑑賞者に様々な気づきを呼び起こすきっかけを与えます。
SETH BLACKは不確定な解釈が得られるようにと
限りなく接写することで図像を滲ませ、フレームアウトした実像やストーリーを
鑑賞者の日常に重ねています。

含まれる割合はそれぞれ違いますが
上記「5つの要素」をもとにSETH BLACK独自の視点で構成されています。
異なる２名の作家による空間に点在する天衣無縫な作品群は
全て鑑賞者の心の奥底に焦点を当て、虚ろいの中から生まれる感受性に迫ります。
［ ステイトメント ］
感覚と知覚の交錯を通じて「感じる世界」と「理解する世界」の
複雑な関係性を示す抽象的な表現は、
境界線を暈し拡張することで、新たな知的探究心の門を開きます。
彼らは「時の流れ」と「永遠の現在」の相克を俯瞰的に捉えており
過去と未来の瞬間を共鳴させることによって
言葉を超えた対話と関係性を私たちに問いかけます。
［ プロフィール ］
KODAGENKOU
東京を拠点に活動するKODAGENKOUは、90年代後期よりミュージシャンとして
様々なライブやレコーディングに参加・客演する他、映像作品への楽曲提供などを手がける。
近年は表現活動の領域を広げ、デザイナーやクリエイティブディレクターといった肩書きに縛られる事なく自身を多彩に変容させ、クリエイションの可能性を探求しているマルチアーティスト。

SETH BLACK
「音」を軸とした様々な創造を社会実装し続ける「黒瀧節也」のAlter Ego。
Saul Leiter, Vivian Maier, Wolfgang Tillmansに影響を受け、
「写真」というフォーマットを軸に日常の些細な瞬間を構造的に切り取り続けている。
アパレルブランドや商業施設などにアートワークを提供する他、NFTマーケットプレイス ”Super Rare” 「Weekly Artist」1位に選出されるなど、クリプトアート界隈にも注目されている。

WISH LESS gallery is thrilled to announce the two-person exhibition ‘TEN’ by KODAGENKOU and SETH BLACK.
KODAGENKOU is a multidisciplinary artist who transforms himself in a variety of ways and explores the possibilities of creation and SETH BLACK is the alter ego of the Japanese musician/sound designer Setsuya Kurotaki. The two artists’ musical sensibilities visually intersect and approach the borderline between abstraction and figuration.
［ ABOUT EXHIBITION ］
This collaborative exhibition is planned to celebrate WISH LESS gallery’s 10th anniversary and the beauty of Autumn.
KODAGENKOU and SETH BLACK will present 10 works each, which capture the world from their own nebulous perspective and blur the boundary between abstraction and figuration.
The theme of KODAGENKOU’s first exhibition is ‘ambiguity’.
The works reconstruct ‘sounds/colours/shapes/scents’, and their coincidental style triggers the viewer to notice various things.
SETH BLACK blurs the iconography by taking endless close-up photographs to allow for indeterminate interpretations, and overlays out of the frame real images and stories onto the viewer’s everyday life.

Although the proportions are different, each piece is composed from SETH BLACK’s unique perspective based on the above five elements.
The works by the two different artists, throughout the space, all focus on the depths of the viewer’s mind and approach the sensibility that arises from the emptiness.
［ STATEMENT ］
Abstract expressions showing the complex relationship between the ‘world of feeling’ and the ‘world of understanding’ through the interplay of sensation and perception open the gates to new intellectual explorations by blurring and extending boundaries.
They take a bird’s-eye view of the conflict between the ‘passage of time’ and the ‘eternal present’, and by resonating past and future moments, they ask us to engage in a dialogue and relationship that transcends language.
［ PROFILE ］
KODAGENKOU
Tokyo-based KODAGENKOU has worked as a musician since the late 1990s.
He has participated in various live performances and recordings as a guest artist, and has also provided music for video works.
Recently KODAGENKOU has broadened his field of expressive activities, transforming himself in a variety of ways without being restricted to the titles of designer or creative director, and exploring the possibilities of creation.

SETH BLACK
Alter ego of Setsuya Kurotaki, who continues to implement various creations based on sound in society.
Influenced by Saul Leiter, Vivian Maier and Wolfgang Tillmans, he continues to structurally cut out trivial everyday moments around the format of ‘photography’.
In addition to providing artwork for apparel brands and commercial establishments, he has also attracted attention in the crypto-art community, including being selected as the No. 1 NFT Marketplace “Super Rare” “Weekly Artist”.
