WISH LESS galleryでは、台湾出身のアーティスト・李漢強（リ・カンキョウ）の個展を開催いたします。日本のスーパーマーケットのチラシを忠実に再現した作風で知られる李の新しい試みを会場にて披露いたします。
ストリーミングが主流となった現代に、あえてフィジカルな「レンタルDVD」に着目し、誰も気に留めなかったDVDのパッケージそのものを独自の観点でポップアートとして捉え、手作業によって一つ一つ作品へと昇華していきます。李が得意とするスーパーマーケットのチラシやポイントカードをモチーフにした作品と同様に、日本社会を俯瞰して観察することで浮かび上がらせる固有の文化を再認識できる展覧会です。
Supreme 2022年春夏コレクションでは、李漢強のアートワークが大々的に起用され、最近では台湾UNIQLOの13周年を記念した李とのコラボアイテムがリリースされました。さらに2022年にはGQ台湾にてアーティストオブザイヤーにも選出されるなど、 国内外で評価が高まる李漢強の最新作をぜひご高覧いただけたら幸いです。

DVDって、楽しみが詰まってましたよね。
最近あまり見かけないけど、
なんかワクワクしませんでしたか？
というわけで、今回はDVDです。
全部手作りの夢です。
台湾から帰ってきた、夢の人形もありますよ。
初公開の「LEE’S DVD」なんです。とにかく！
［ プロフィール ］
李漢強（リ・カンキョウ）
台湾出身のアーティスト。東京造形大学大学院（造形専攻）修了。幼い頃から見ていたTV番組で、日本のエンターテインメントに魅力を感じ、2007年来日。スーパーのチラシや週刊誌、ポイントカードといった世の中の“現象”を主な題材に制作を続ける。国内外のArt Fairや、Art Book Fairへ出展多数。アパレルブランドSupreme、KIRIN Taiwan、UNIQLO、WIND AND SEA、菊地成孔 Q/N/K、Netflix《WAVE MAKERS-選挙の人々》にアートワークを提供。

WISH LESS gallery is delighted to announce Taiwanese artist LEE KAN KYO’s solo exhibition ‘It’s a DVD, anyways’. Lee is known for his style of faithfully reproducing Japanese supermarket flyers and point cards.
In an age where movie streaming has become the mainstream, he focuses on physical ‘rental DVDs’, capturing the DVD packaging itself, which to some extent has been forgotten and by sublimating it into a work of art by hand, he creates pop art from a unique perspective. This exhibition allows viewers to rediscover the special culture that emerges from his objective view of Japanese society as with the works using supermarket flyers and point cards as motifs.
The Supreme 2022 Spring/Summer collection featured extensive use of LEE’s artwork, and recently UNIQLO Taiwan collaborated with LEE to commemorate their 13th anniversary. In 2022, he was named Artist of the Year by GQ Taiwan. This award winning artist’s latest body work reveals why his global reputation is going from strength to strength.

FULL of dreams.
DVDs were full of fun.
You don’t see them much these days,
Weren’t they kind of exciting?
So, this time it’s DVDs.
All handmade dreams.
There’s also some dream dolls that came back from Taiwan.

［ PROFILE ］
LEE KAN KYO is a Taiwanese graphic artist living and working in Tokyo. He obtained his M.A. Degree in Design from Tokyo Zokei University. Since childhood he has been fascinated by the glamour of Japanese culture through Japanese variety shows on TV, which eventually brought him to Japan in 2007.
He has created works mainly based on “everyday culture” in the world, such as supermarket flyers, weekly magazines and point cards. He has exhibited at domestic and international art fairs and art book fairs. Clients include Supreme, KIRIN Taiwan, UNIQLO, WIND AND SEA, Naruyoshi Kikuchi Q/N/K and Netflix’s WAVE MAKERS.
