WISH LESS galleryでは、フォトグラファー・那部亜弓による個展「JAPONICA LOVEHOTEL」を開催いたします。那部亜弓は2018年より日本各地のラブホテルを訪れ、回転ベッド、ネオン装飾、奇抜なインテリアなど、昭和から平成にかけて独自の発展を遂げたラブホテル文化を、歴史的遺産として記録し続けてきました。一方で、那部は解体され廃墟となったホテルにも着目し、その姿を写真に収めてきました。人間の欲望や快楽を過剰に投影した壮麗な建造物が、時代の変遷に取り残され、遺物へと変貌していく。その過程を写し出す写真からは、生と死が隣り合うような生々しい感覚が漂います。
廃業したラブホテルから回転ベッドを譲り受け、自宅へ移設するほど深い愛着を抱く那部は、ラブホテルを単なる消費空間としてではなく、日本固有の美意識と大衆文化が交差する存在として捉え、その価値を広く発信する活動を続けています。
性すらも娯楽と結びつけ、独自のエンターテインメントへと昇華させてきた日本社会。その欲望の想像力が生み出した、豪華絢爛なる「この世の楽園―ラブホテル」その華やかな表層の奥に潜む文化的背景と変遷の痕跡を、ぜひご覧ください。

那部亜弓／AYUMI NABE @ayuminabe
千葉県出身在住。大学在学中、親の死をきっかけに廃墟に目覚める。2018年頃から廃墟だけでなく現役のラブホテルの撮影も始める。現在はトークイベント、写真展、メディア出演、執筆、ホテルの見学会、カップルの出張撮影などを実施している。また閉店したラブホテルから回転ベッドを自宅に移設。昭和のラブホテルに魅せられ、またその魅力を伝えるべく様々な活動を行なっている。イベント、写真展、ホテルの見学会などを実施している。APA2025奨励賞受賞。

WISH LESS gallery is excited to announce a solo exhibition by photographer Ayumi Nabe “JAPONICA LOVEHOTEL”. Since 2018, Nabe has traveled across Japan documenting the country’s unique love hotel culture. Her photographs capture rotating beds, neon lights, and extravagant interiors―symbols of a distinctly Japanese entertainment culture that flourished during the Showa and Heisei eras.
Nabe has also photographed abandoned and decaying love hotels, tracing the transformation of these once-glamorous spaces into relics of a changing society. Her work reveals the fragile boundary between desire and decline, vitality and loss.
Viewing love hotels as more than spaces of consumption, Nabe explores them as cultural sites where Japanese aesthetics, fantasy, and popular culture intersect. We invite visitors to discover the rich history and imagination hidden behind these extraordinary places.
[ PROFILE ]
Ayumi Nabe is a photographer based in Chiba, Japan. Inspired by abandoned buildings, she began photographing ruins before expanding her practice to include Japan’s unique love hotel culture in 2018.
Fascinated by Showa-era love hotels, Nabe documents both active and abandoned sites while promoting their cultural significance through exhibitions, talks, writing, media appearances and guided tours. She received the APA 2025 Encouragement Award.
Her publications include SILENTxRUINS, Unknown Japanese Heritage: A Pilgrimage to Ruins in Former Japanese Sakhalin, Motel Erotica: A Collection of Forgotten Love Hotel Ruins (all published by Hakkaku Publishing), and Hotel Mejiro Emperor (Tokyo Kirara-sha Publishing).
