WISH LESS galleryでは、抜水摩耶の個展「SUPER BAD DREAM」を開催いたします。
抜水が描写する不穏な空気感と個性的な主人公たちの表情からは、作品から受け取れる力強さとは裏返しの繊細さと豊かな感受性を読み取ることが出来ます。彼らの挑発的な視線の裏側には、傷つく事を恐れる人間の弱さが見え隠れし、それでも強くポジティブでありたいと願う私たち自身が 映し出されているかの様です。
悪い夢のような現実の不安や混乱と向き合いつつも、相反する明るい世界を想像し描かれた作品たち。善悪が表裏一体となったユートピアに私たちは足を踏み入れ、心の奥に秘めた夢を探るのです。
[ ステイトメント ]
私の作品の中には、漫画的に描かれた女の子や不穏なモンスター、天使、骸骨や雲、眉を顰める赤ちゃん人形などが不条理な夢のように存在しています。
まるで時間や場所を遊ぶように飛び越えて、多次元に介在しているかの様にコラージュ的にモチーフを重ね表現しています。それらのモチーフは世界に無限に存在する人々やキャラクターであり、私は全てを主人公として肯定したいと思います。
不安のあるヘビーな現実世界は“悪い夢”であり、ネガティブからポジティブに変換するかのように絵の中に封じ込めることで、私たちが直面する複雑でいびつなこの世界からエスケープできる術があることを提示したいです。

抜水摩耶
京都府生まれ。東京都在住。
旧 京都造形芸術大学大学院 芸術表現専攻 修了
幼少期より強い影響を受けてきた漫画カルチャーを元に、世界に無限に存在する主人公として肯定的に表現。国内外で作品発表を重ねる傍ら、アートフェアの参加や、アイドルグループのアートワークを手掛けるなど幅広く活動中。

WISH LESS gallery is delighted to announce Maya Nukumizu’s solo exhibition “SUPER BAD DREAM”.
The disturbing atmosphere and the expressions of the unique protagonists depicted by Nukumizu reveal a delicacy and rich sensitivity in contrast to the strength that can be perceived in her works. Behind their provocative gazes, we can see human weakness and fear of being hurt, and yet they seem to reflect our own desire to be strong and positive.
The works depict a world of contradictory brightness, while facing the anxiety and confusion of a reality that is like a bad dream.
We step into a utopia where good and evil are inextricably linked, and explore our innermost dreams.
[ STATEMENT ]
In my work, cartoonish girls, disturbing monsters, angels, skeletons, clouds and frowning baby dolls exist like absurd dreams.
The motifs are layered in a collage-like manner, as if they are intervening in multiple dimensions, skipping over time and place as if playing.
These motifs are the people and characters that exist infinitely in the world, and I want to affirm them all as protagonists.
I want to show that the heavy, anxious real world is a “bad dream” and that there is a way to escape from the complex, tortured world we face by sealing it up in my paintings, as if to transform it from negative to positive.
[ PROFILE ]
Maya Nukumizu
Born in Kyoto. Lives and works in Tokyo. Formerly completed postgraduate studies at Kyoto University of Art and Design, Department of Art Expression.
Based on manga culture, which has had a strong influence on her since childhood, Maya Nukumizu expresses herself positively as a protagonist who exists in the world without limit.
Nukumizu has exhibited her work in Japan and abroad, participated in art fairs and done artwork for idol groups.
