WISH LESS galleryでは、画家・牧田純の個展を開催いたします。
牧田の作品に登場するふっくりと単純化された動物達を見ていると、無邪気さと親しみを覚える裏側に、寂しさやノスタルジーを感じさせます。それは彼の幼少期の体験や自然との触れ合いが制作の原点となっているからかもしれません。主人公たちの儚くも強い意思を宿した大きな目は、牧田のピュアな精神を映し出しています。
本展では、新作のペインティング群を発表いたします。ぜひこの機会にご高覧ください。
作家の言葉
私はグラフティに憧れたはずがストリートに縁がなく、
家でキャンバスに向かいペタペタと絵の具を塗る毎日を過ごしてます。
雲や草木と眠り、
花や鳥や動物の会話に耳をすまし、
世界のエネルギーを全身で受け止め、キャンバスに叩きつける。
そうして制作して行くうちに作品には、幼い頃どこかで出会った様な
動物達が現れはじめました。
それは大事にしていたぬいぐるみかも知れないし、絵本かも知れない。
拾った石かもしれないし、切られた木かも知れない。
大人になる為に捨てられ、影に隠れている者たちに光をあて前へ進む。
その先に美術の裏街道ぐらいはあるんじゃないかと信じています。
プロフイール
牧田 純
1980年生まれ、新潟生まれ大阪育ち。大学中退後、独学で絵を描き始める。
動物や草花をモチーフにしたエネルギッシュな作風で活躍の場を広げている。
村上隆主宰のGEISAIには第１回目から参加し、
2002年、2003年に日比野克彦賞、2005年に曽我部恵一賞を受賞。
同年、雑誌ブルータス誌において「村上隆氏が買ったアート特集」にて作品が掲載される。

WISH LESS gallery is pleased to announce Jun Makita’s solo exhibition ‘KIDS SEE DREAMS AND FORGET’.
Looking at the plump simplified animals in Makita’s work, I feel a sense of loneliness and nostalgia behind the initial feelings of innocence and familiarity. It may be because his childhood experiences and contact with nature were the starting point of his creativity .
The big eyes of the protagonists manage to be both ephemeral and strong, reflecting Makita’s pure spirit.
In this exhibition, we will present a series of new paintings by Makita. Please come and enjoy his unique vision.
STATEMENT
I was supposed to be a graffiti artist, but I never made it to the streets.
I spend my days at home, slapping paint on the canvas.
I spend my days at home painting, sleeping with clouds and trees, listening to the conversations of flowers, birds and animals.
I take in the energy of the world with my whole body and slap it on the canvas.
As I continued to work in this way, animals that I had met somewhere in my childhood began to appear in my works.
They may be stuffed animals that I cherished, or picture books. It could be a stone I found, or a tree I cut down.
I’m trying to shine a light on those who were discarded to become adults and are hiding in the shadows, and move forward. I believe that there is at least a backstreet of art beyond that.
PROFILE
Jun Makita
Born in 1980 in Niigata and raised in Osaka. After dropping out of college, he started painting by himself.
He is expanding his field of activity with an energetic style featuring animals and flowers as key motifs.
Participated in GEISAI presided over by Takashi Murakami from the first event.
Received the Katsuhiko Hibino Award in 2002 and 2003, and the Keiichi Sokabe Award in 2005.
Also in 2005 , his work was published in Brutus magazine as part of the article “Special feature on art bought by Takashi Murakami”.
