WISH LESS galleryでは、英国のストリートアーティスト、ヴィニー・ナイロンの個展を開催いたします。
ヴィニー本人が来日し、ストリートの壁を切り取ったかのようなダイナミックでビビッドなネオンカラー満載のアート作品群を披露いたします。ヴィニーのアイコンであるポップなキャラクターたちが暴れまわる、本場のストリートアートを会場に再現いたしますので、ぜひご期待ください。
ステイトメント
ヴィニー・ナイロンの作品は、ミッドセンチュリーの広告やマスコット、おもちゃ、パッケージなどから影響を受け、同時に20世紀に台頭したモダンアートや80年代のニューヨークシーンに感化されたヴィジュアルのるつぼである。
1984年にイギリスのスタイル雑誌で初めてキースへリングの絵を見て感動し、絵の概念がひっくり返った。その時からストリートアートに目覚め、さまざまな活動をはじめた。偉大なるコブラ芸術運動や具象絵画からフリースタイルの技法やダイナミックな色彩感覚を学び、作品にも取り入れている。
最近では、立体や拾い物から着想した作品、シルクプリント、ペインティングなど、あらゆる創作にチャレンジしている。英国や日本を拠点に、さらにはアメリカなど活動の場は広がっている。

英国出身のストリートアーティスト。欧米で発生した具象絵画やポップアートに刺激を受け、80年代よりストリートおよびグラフィティアートの活動をいち早く行い、バンクシーなどのアーティストに多大な影響を与えた。オリジナルキャラクターのペインティングやシルクプリント、立体作品を発表し、各地で個展を開催。世界中にコレクターも多い。最近ではアディダスオリジナルとコラボするなど、ファッション業界でも話題のアーティスト。

WISH LESS gallery is delighted to announce Vinnie Nylon’s solo exhibition ‘Street Trash Punk’. Vinnie will be flying to Tokyo to transform the space with his iconic characters in a neon coloured palette capturing the dynamic energy of his street pieces.
STATEMENT
My work is a visual playground of characters whose development owes much to mid century advertising and mascots, toys and packaging as well as clear references to the wider history of modern art from the turn of the century right up to the 1980s New York scene.
In 1984 I first saw Keith Haring in English magazines such as Time Out and The Face; the fuse was lit for what was to be a life changing shift in my ideas about what art was or what it could be. From that moment on I always made street art in some form or another.
I feel a strong connection with art movements of the past such as Cobra and the Figuration Libre style, choosing to paint loose and free with bold colours and visual dynamism.
Explorations into 3D assemblage sculpture, printed work, collage and painting have been forwarding my work steadily for the past few years with sales and commissioned pieces.
Currently exhibiting in the UK and Japan on a regular basis with various galleries and this is about to include America too.
PROFILE
Vinnie Nylon identifies strongly with the Figuration Libre movement and has been creating street art and graffiti since the 1980s. Now published, exhibited and collected internationally for his free expressionist character based paintings, prints and 3D works.
