WISH LESS galleryは、岡山を拠点に活動するぬいぐるみ作家、heidi.（ハイジ.）の個展「Night night」を開催いたします。
heidi. は1997年より本格的にぬいぐるみ制作をはじめ、現在は倉敷でgallery björnを営みながら作家活動を続けています。ぬいぐるみは主にアンゴラ山羊・アルパカなどの天然モヘア生地を用いたハンドメイドの一点物で、手・足首が可動するなど細部までこだわりぬいた仕上がりが特徴的です。作品の背中には陶製のボタンが縫い付けてあり、自身のサインとしてだけでなく、古くから日本の風習とされる背守り（子供用着物の背中に刺繍やお守りを縫い付けたもの）として、ぬいぐるみや持ち主を守る役割を担っています。さらに作陶家MARU作の陶ブーツを履くことでぬいぐるみが直立できるのも魅力の一つです。
テディベアといえば本来子供向けのおもちゃとされていますが、現代社会に疲弊する大人こそ、愛らしいテディベアに存在価値を見出し、癒しを求めるのではないでしょうか。無表情で見つめてくるテディベア達は、まるで能面から様々な表情を読み取り感情移入してしまう観客と同様に、自身と向き合うことで心の内側を改めて見直すきっかけを与えてくれるはずです。
本展では、新作のぬいぐるみ約40点を中心に、クレパス画やコラージュ作品などを会場にて展示・販売いたします。「可愛い」を超え、あらゆる感情を投げ掛けてくれる小さなぬいぐるみ達の世界をお楽しみください。

眠りにつく時間
安心を与えるふわふわなものたち。
あなたの寝相が悪くても いびきがうるさくても怒りません。
あなたが乱暴な時 踏んづけられても 投げられても負けません。
ふわふわなので 気持ちがおおらかで 強くて 逃げたりもしません。
あなたが悲しみに沈んでいたら 優しく寄り添ってそばに居て話を聞いてくれます。
お出かけも大好きなのです。どこへでも文句言わずついて行きます。ただ、歩けないので抱っこしてね。

小さい頃 母とおもちゃ屋に行った。
「好きなものを一つ選んでね」母が言った。
天井からぶら下がったブランコにうつむいて座っている どこか寂しげな白熊をみつけた。
白熊さんを連れ帰り沢山遊んで過ごした。
ある日気がついたら 白熊の表情は悲しみから、にっこりと笑っている。
自分が母となり、子供たちに贈り物を考えた時 ぬいぐるみを作ろうと思った。
世界に一つが良くて
はじめてアンティークのぬいぐるみを参考に自己流でパターンをひき 手縫いで仕上げたテディベア。お世話になった人や友人の為にもぬいぐるみを作った。

heidi.／ハイジ.
1997年よりぬいぐるみ作家として活動を開始し、2015年クレパスで絵を描き始める。2022年国際アートオリンピアにて佳作受賞。現在は岡山・倉敷にてgallery björnを企画・運営。
アンティークになっても可愛がられるぬいぐるみをコンセプトに、自身の思いを投影したハンドメイド作品を制作。天然素材をふんだんに使い、グラスアイを用いるなどクオリティの高いテディベアが大変人気。最近では、ぬいぐるみと人物の関係性を描いた自費出版の絵本『しずくちゃん』（文：かどたにゆうこ 絵：heidi.）を出すなど幅広く活動している。

WISH LESS gallery is excited to announce Okayama-based plush toy artist heidi’s solo exhibition ‘Night night’.
heidi. has been making plush toys since 1997 and currently runs gallery björn in Kurashiki. The plush toys are handmade one-off items made from natural mohair fabrics, mainly from Angora goats and alpacas. They are characterised by their meticulous attention to detail, including movable hands and ankles. A ceramic button is sewn onto the back of the work, which serves not only as a signature, but also to protect the stuffed animal and its owner as a back guard (an embroidery or amulet sewn onto the back of a child’s kimono), which has been a Japanese custom for centuries. Another attraction is that the stuffed animals can stand upright by wearing ceramic boots made by potter MARU.
Teddy bears are originally considered to be toys for children, but it is adults who are tired of modern society who find value in adorable teddy bears and seek solace in them. The teddy bears stare at us without expression, and just like the audience who reads the various expressions on a Noh mask and becomes emotionally involved, they will give us the opportunity to face ourselves and re-evaluate our inner selves.
In this exhibition, approximately 40 new stuffed toys, as well as crepuscular drawings and collages, will be exhibited and sold at the exhibition venue. Please enjoy the world of small stuffed toys that go beyond ‘cute’ and throw all kinds of emotions at you.
[ PROFILE ]
heidi. started her career as a plush artist in 1997 and started painting with crayons in 2015, winning an honorable mention at the International Art Olympia in 2022. Currently organises and runs gallery björn in Kurashiki, Okayama.
She creates handmade works that project her own thoughts and feelings, based on the concept of a cuddly toy that will be adored even after it has become an antique. Her high quality teddy bears, made from natural materials and with glass eyes, are very popular. Recently, she has been involved in a wide range of activities, including the self-published picture book Shizuku-chan (text by Yuko Kadotani, illustrations by heidi.), which depicts the relationship between plush toys and people.
