WISH LESS galleryでは、漫画家／イラストレーターとして活躍する松田光市の個展を開催いたします。
松田光市は岩手県出身、上京後は特殊漫画家・根本敬氏に師事し、「アックス」漫画家としてデビュー。2024年には自身初となる単行本「運命」を発表し、注目を集める若手作家です。
松田の作品には、時代や地域を超えたあらゆる者が集まり、現実と非日常が混在する不条理な社会が広がっています。バブル期のサラリーマンやOL、ギャルなど、昭和～平成の憧憬をブラックユーモアたっぷりに現代に置き換え、モラルや秩序から解放された遊戯的な未来世界を描き出します。
本展では、新作ペインティング作品を中心に展示いたします。漫画のみならずファッションブランドなどからもラブコールの止まない松田の最新作にご期待ください。

遠い南国の青い海、白い砂浜を夢見て勢い良いよく飛び込んだとて現実はコンクリートのザラリとしたプールの底に顔面をぶつけるようなことばかりである
この展示が終わる頃には悪夢のような暑さの夏は過ぎ去っているのだろうか

上京後、 美学校に入学。根本敬氏に師事
2020年 第22回アックス漫画新人賞佳作
2024年 漫画「運命」上梓
漫画以外にもイラストやデザインも手掛け、これまでにEVISEN、TOKYO CULTUART by BEAMS EDWIN EUROPEとのコラボ等がある。
個性的な線描、色使いで「ガロ系」を引き継いでいる作家。

WISH LESS gallery is thrilled to announce a solo exhibition by manga artist / illustrator Kouichi Matsuda.
Matsuda was born in Iwate Prefecture and moved to Tokyo, where he studied under legendary manga artist Takashi Nemoto and made his debut as a manga artist for ‘AX’ magazine. In 2024, he published his first book, ‘UNMEI,’ attracting attention as a promising young artist.
Matsuda’s works depict a surreal society where people from all eras and regions gather, blending reality with the extraordinary. He reimagines the aspirations of the citizens of Showa to Heisei eras―such as salarymen from the bubble era, OL (office ladies), and Gals―with dark humour, transposing them into the present day. His works envision a chaotic future world liberated from morality and order.
This exhibition will feature his latest paintings. Matsuda has garnered attention not only in the manga world but also from fashion brands and promises to deliver an exciting new body of work.

The girl who was eaten by a shark
The guy who was bitten on the manhood by a mosquito
The small Hawaiian restaurant that my classmate’s father started after quitting his job at a pub….
I dream of the blue sea and white sandy beaches of the distant tropics, but in reality it’s more like smashing my face into the bottom of a rough concrete pool
By the time this exhibition is over, will the nightmarish heat of summer have passed?

[ PROFILE ]
Koichi Matsuda
Manga artist
Born 24 December 1994 in Morioka, Iwate
After moving to Tokyo he entered art school Bigakko and studied under Takashi Nemoto. In 2020 he received The Newcomer Award Honourable Mention in the 22nd AX Manga competition and in 2024 he published first Manga/comic “UNMEI(Fate)”.
In addition to manga he also works in illustration and design. Recently he has collaborated with EVISEN, TOKYO CULTUART by BEAMS and EDWIN EUROPE, among others.
He has become known for carrying on the tradition of the “Garo style” with his unique line drawings and use of colour.
