WISH LESS galleryでは、インドネシア出身のグラフィックデザイナー、ファンディによる個展「The days are Long, but the years are short」を開催いたします。
本展は、仕事や都市生活で感じるプレッシャーや常に効率よく生きることを求められる日々から生まれた作品を紹介します。大都市で暮らす中で、計画を立て、環境に適応し、忙しく過ごすことが当たり前になっていく一方で、ファンディは、そうした日常から少し離れ、自分自身の思考や感覚を見つめ直すために創作を続けています。
ドローイング作品は、最初から明確なテーマや意味を決めて描かれるものではありません。自由に線を重ね、描くことに身を委ねることで、無意識にある考えや感情が少しずつ浮かび上がってきます。完成した作品を見て初めて、その中に自分の抱えていた違和感や思いに気づくこともあります。
仕事、政治、都市生活など、日々のさまざまな出来事から影響を受けながらも、制作の根底には「もっとゆっくり生きたい」「違う生き方をしてみたい」という個人的な思いがあります。
「The days are Long, but the years are short」というタイトルには、毎日は長く感じられる一方で、振り返れば年月は驚くほど早く過ぎていくという、時間に対する意識が込められています。ドローイングを通して、言葉になる前の思考や感情をすくい上げながら、自分自身と静かに向き合う大切な時間が描き出されています。

Fffffandy（Fandy Susanto） @fffffandy
ジャカルタを拠点に活動するグラフィックデザイナー／クリエイティブディレクター。2006年にシドニーのスウィンバーン工科大学を卒業後、グラフィックデザインやカルチャーの分野で活動を続け、デザイン、アート、さまざまなクリエイティブ領域を行き来しながら独自の表現を展開。
デザインの仕事と並行して、展覧会やさまざまなプロジェクトを通して個人制作にも継続的に取り組んでいる。あらかじめ答えや結論を決めるのではなく、日常の観察から直感に従って制作することで、意味が明確になる前にイメージを生み出し、完成後にその作品の意図を見出す。
ドローイングやペインティング、小さな立体作品を通して、日々の緊張感や信念、人々の振る舞い、何気ない生活で生じるあらゆる葛藤を捉える。ユーモラスで遊び心のある作品には、人前で演じる自分と理想とする自分との間にあるギャップや揺らぎが描かれてる。

WISH LESS gallery is delighted to announce indonesian graphic designer Fffffandy’s solo exhibition “The days are Long, but the years are short”.
The days are long, but the years are short begins with the tension between industriousness and the life that continually feels postponed. Shaped by the experience of living in a big city, the works reflect a condition in which planning, efficiency, and constant adaptation gradually become habits of both daily life and thought. Productivity becomes inseparable from the persistent feeling of participating in a race that never really ends.
Drawing offers a temporary suspension of that condition. Rather than beginning with fixed intentions, the works are allowed to unfold on their own, giving subconscious associations room to emerge before they can be rationalised. Their meanings often become apparent only after the drawings are complete. Sometimes a drawing becomes a gentle reminder, sometimes it reveals an unresolved discomfort, and sometimes it carries no meaning at all.
The title reflects an awareness that time moves faster than it feels. The works emerge from everyday pressures, such as work, politics, the city, and the expectation to remain productive; while quietly returning to more personal desires to slow down, to live differently, and to find a greater sense of peace.
What emerges through this process is rarely predetermined. By loosening control over the act of drawing, unexpected meanings begin to surface. The works become traces of a wired mind, while drawing becomes a constructive way of recognising thoughts and burdens that would otherwise remain unspoken.
[ PROFILE ]
Fffffandy (Fandy Susanto) is principally known as a graphic designer and creative director based in Jakarta. After graduating from Swinburne University of Technology in Sydney in 2006, he has worked across the graphic design and cultural landscape, developing a practice that moves between design, art, and other creative fields.
Alongside his design practice, he has developed an independent body of work that has been presented through exhibitions and other projects. His works begin with observation rather than conclusion. Working intuitively, he allows images to emerge before their meanings become clear, often discovering what they are about only after they are finished. Across drawing, painting, and small sculptural objects, he reflects on daily tensions, belief, social behavior, and the quiet negotiations of everyday life. His works often appear humorous or playful, while exploring the tensions between the lives we perform and the lives we imagine for ourselves.
