WISH LESS galleryでは、オランダ出身のアーティスト、ボブ・モレマの日本初個展「The Unspoiled Within」を開催いたします。
神秘的でエネルギッシュなモチーフを描くボブ・モレマは、ヨーロッパ各地で個展を開催し、最近では人気サーフブランドVolcomにてアートワークがコレクション（2021～2025）に起用されるなど、アートの垣根を超えてファッションの分野においても大きな注目を集める作家です。
モレマは、身近にある生物や植物と、太古から語り継がれる伝説や民話のモチーフを織り交ぜ、現代の神話世界を描き出しています。生き生きとしたモチーフの息遣いを感じさせる色鉛筆の荒々しい筆致やムラが、人間に残る野生的な感覚を刺激し、私たちが本来持つ心の素朴さ、純粋さを呼び起こしてくれます。
生命の輝きや自然の美しさを捉えたモレマの作品は、率直で純粋なかたちを追求し、包容力に満ちた温かい存在となって人々に寄り添ってくれるのです。
本展では、ボブ・モレマが来日し、「The Unspoiled Within＝内なる野生」と題した新作の数々を日本初公開いたします。

神話的なモチーフに導かれることを、内在する「野生」へ近づく方法としています。
野生の声に耳を傾けるとき、この世界をより純粋で独創的な視点で捉えることができます。
それは、個性や美しさの多様性を否定する従順で均一化された世界に対する小さな抵抗でもあります。
あらかじめ完成形を決めて制作しているわけではありません。
むしろ、自然体な「らしさ」的なものに出来るだけ正直でいようとし心がけています。そうすることで完成された作品には、純粋さ・正直さ・素朴さがまだ手つかずのまま残ると信じているからです。
それらのエネルギーを観る人が感じ取り、自分の中で育んで、生活の一部としてもらえたら嬉しいです。
[ プロフィール ]
ボブ・モレマ／Bob Mollema @bobmollema
1990年生まれ、オランダ出身。多様なメディアを横断して活躍するアーティスト、イラストレーター、ミュージシャン。荒々しさの残るアナログなタッチと、幅広いビジュアル表現を得意とし、グラフィックデザインや音楽、神話などから強く影響を受ける。主に鉛筆、チョーク、油絵具を用い、素材の持つ質感を活かしながら、偶然性や不完全さに価値を見出す。
自身の制作活動と並行して講師としても活動しており、ワークショップを定期的に催し、様々な文化団体や企業のイラストレーションも多く手掛る。

WISH LESS gallery is excited to announce Dutch artist Bob Mollema’s first solo exhibition in Japan “The Unspoiled Within”.
Bob Mollema , who depicts mystical and energetic motifs, has held solo exhibitions across Europe. Recently, his artwork was featured in the collection (2021–2025) of the popular surf brand Volcom, making him an artist who has garnered significant attention not only in the art world but also in the fashion industry, transcending the boundaries of art.
Mollema weaves together motifs from familiar creatures and plants with legends and folk tales passed down since ancient times, creating a contemporary mythological world. The bold, uneven strokes and unevenness of his coloured pencil work, which seem to breathe life into his vibrant subjects, stimulate the wild senses that remain within us, evoking the innate simplicity and purity of our hearts.
Mollema’s works, capturing the radiance of life and the beauty of nature, pursue a candid and pure form, becoming warm, embracing presences that stand alongside people.
For this exhibition, Bob Mollema will visit Tokyo, presenting numerous new works titled “The Unspoiled Within” for the first time in Japan.
[ STATEMENT ]
In my work, I allow myself to be guided by mythological motifs as a way of moving closer to my inner wilderness. I believe that when I let this wilderness speak, I can look at the world with honest and non-conformist eyes. It becomes a personal battle against the smoothing uniformity that erodes the texture and beauty of difference.
I do not work towards a predetermined outcome. Instead, I try to remain as faithful as possible to my natural signature, so that the aesthetics stay pure, honest, naive, and unspoilt. I hope that my audience can feel this energy, nurture it within themselves, and carry it into the grind of everyday life.
[ PROFILE ]
Bob Mollema (1990) is a multidisciplinary artist, illustrator and musician. His work is characterized by a raw, analogue visual language and a broad visual orientation, in which influences from visual culture, music and mythology converge.
He primarily works with pencil, chalk and oil paint, allowing the material to create space for chance and imperfection. Alongside his autonomous practice, he is active as a lecturer, regularly gives workshops, and creates commissioned work for a wide range of cultural and social organizations.
