WISH LESS galleryでは、80年代よりグラフィティライターとして独自のスタイルを築き、バンクシーら多くのアーティストに影響を与えた英国出身のペインター、ヴィニー・ナイロンの個展を開催いたします。
モチーフとなるキャラクターや単語は、ランダムに構築され、ダダイズムの影響を色濃く反映しています。さらに80年代のグラフィティやスケートカルチャーのエッセンスを凝縮させた大胆なネオンカラーの彩色が目を引きます。パワフルなグラフィティ、ペインティング、コラージュ、古本やメタル缶といったファウンド・オブジェクトなど多様化するメディアは、ヴィニーの多才さと進化する創作へのアプローチを示し、溢れる感性と卓越した筆致でポップ＆ノスタルジックな世界観を自在に表します。
ヴィニーの日本初個展より10年目を記念する本展では、原点を振り返り、「Soda Pop」「Lenny Crackfix」「Machine Head the Boom Box」「My-T-Tooth」といったお馴染みのクラシカルなキャラクターたちを再登場させます。また平面作品をはじめ、木製品、鉄素材などを用いたバリエーション豊かな作品が並びます。
奇抜なファッションのクラブキッズ、スケーター、タガー、狂人、パンクス、ビートニク…. あらゆる人種へ向けた夢の楽園へ皆様をご招待いたします。

Vinnie Nylon／ヴィニー・ナイロン
30年以上に渡りストリートアートやパブリックアート界で活躍し、様々なメディアにて取り上げられてきたアーティスト。世界的ブランドとコラボし、イギリス、アメリカ、オーストラリア、ドイツ、日本で展覧会を開催。
スタジオワークおよび壁画のモチーフとして鍋やマスク、花瓶など、身の回りのアイテムが描かれることが多い。 現代文化や民族芸術に情熱を注ぎ、鮮明なラインとダイナミックな色の組み合わせから構成されるポップな画風が大変人気。
ヴィニーの描くビジュアル・ランゲージは、蒐集家としての審美眼と知識を昇華させた自伝的な作品であり、近代美術を紐解く上で最も重要なアートの一つと称される。

WISH LESS gallery is thrilled to announce “Acid Rain” a solo exhibition by British painter Vinnie Nylon, who has developed his own style as a graffiti writer since the 1980s and has influenced many artists, including Banksy.
Characters and words selected at random play with the element of chance, echoes of DaDa but in eye punching neon colours that evoke graffiti and skateboard graphics of the 80s. Vinnie’s versatility and ever evolving approach to creativity is demonstrated in his powerful graffiti, paintings, collages and transformation of found objects such as old books covers and industrial cans. He freely expresses a pop and nostalgic worldview with an overflowing sensitivity and masterful brushwork.
This exhibition marks ten years since Vinnie first exhibited with us in Tokyo and forms a ‘return to the classics’ reintroducing familiar classic characters such as Lenny Crackfix, Machine Head the Boom Box, My-T-Tooth and Soda Pop. The exhibition features a rich variety of works including a selection of brand new artworks on paper, wood and steel.
A riot of colour for the trashy fashy club kids, skaters, taggers, weirdos, punks and beatniks, a boho boogie down on the north side of town.
[ PROFILE ]
Vinnie Nylon has been actively involved in the world of street and public art for more than three decades and in that time has featured in numerous books and magazines on the subject.
It is a vocation that has seen him work with international brands as well as exhibit in the UK, America, Australia, Germany and Japan.
Both his studio work and outdoor murals can often depict items plucked from his home such as pots, masks and vases.
His passion for modern world culture and tribal arts is strongly evident and delivered with crisp lines and dynamic colour combinations.
The visual language is autobiographical in that it is a distillation of his collected treasures with a knowing nod to modern art history.
