WISH LESS galleryでは、音楽活動を軸として多岐に渡り活躍するアーティスト、浅川翔による個展を開催いたします。
— “動き出す色彩”が生み出す新しい視覚体験 —
Apple社の文書作成ソフト「Pages」。
本来はデザイン用途ではないこのアプリをあえて使用し、世界で初めてアート表現へと昇華させた作品群が《Pages Art》です。
この作品群の最大の特徴は、特定の光（特にグラデーション光）を受けることで、画面上の色彩が動いて見えること。静止画でありながら、まるで形が揺れたり、波打ったりしているかのような錯覚を生み出します。それは単なる視覚のトリックではなく、「感覚と意識の再構築」と言える、まったく新しい没入体験です。
ポップで親しみやすい印象の裏には、不穏さやサイケデリックな深層が潜み、作者自身が体験してきたアンダーグラウンド・ミュージックシーンの記憶と感覚が、色彩や構成に濃密に表れています。
また、本作は1960～70年代のフラワームーブメントで知られるアーティスト、Victor Moscosoの視覚効果にインスパイアされ、「多色の光を当てるとまるで映像のように絵が動く」ライブ感を表現しスマホや画面では伝わらない、生でしか感じ取れない“人間的な感覚”に強く訴えかけます。
そして1980年代後半イギリスのレイヴ＆サイケデリックカルチャー「セカンド・サマー・オブ・ラブ」のエネルギーやグラフィック感も作品に影響を与えており、当時のポスターやレコードジャケットを想起させるカラーリングやモチーフを、現代的に再構築しています。
日本における錯視研究の第一人者・北岡明佳氏の手法にも着想を得ており、鑑賞者の知覚に直接働きかける構成が随所に見られるのも特徴です。
子どもは「色が動いて楽しい！」と笑い、
大人は知らぬ間にその世界に深く引き込まれていく——。
《Pages Art》は、年齢もジャンルも越えて、「見ることの楽しさ」そのものを再発見させてくれるアートの新境地です。

SHO ASAKAWA｜浅川 翔
茨城県出身。
グラフィックデザイナー、イラストレーター、ミュージシャン、ファッションデザイナーとして多彩な表現領域を横断しながら、東京を拠点に国際的な活動を展開するクリエイター。
幼少期より音楽と密接に結びついたカルチャーに強い関心を寄せ、13歳のときに出会った英国のカルチャー誌『i-D』を契機に創作への意識を深める。70年代のPUNKを聴きながら絵を描き、楽器を手にし、服を手縫いで制作するなど、多様な表現手法を早い段階から独自に模索していった。
高校卒業後は、東京のファッションデザインスクールに進学。在学中の2005年より、ファッションブランド「VENUS ECCENTRIC」のデザイナーとしてキャリアをスタートさせると同時に、音楽活動にも本格的に取り組む。
2009年、自身のレコードジャケット制作をきっかけにApple社のワードプロセッサ「Pages」と出会い、同アプリケーションをアートツールとして活用する独自の視点を確立。以降、15年以上にわたり「Pages」の機能を駆使したグラフィックアート制作を独学で探求・実践し続けてきたが、その手法は長らく非公開とされてきた。
「Pages」によるアート制作は、広告、アパレル、音楽関連など多岐にわたるビジュアルデザインに応用され、東京のアンダーグラウンドカルチャー・シーンにおいて唯一無二の存在感を放つ。
その表現力が高く評価され、2011年には、自身がフロントマンを務めるバンド“PLASTICZOOMS”が、写真家・荒木経惟とラグジュアリーブランド「JIL SANDER」による誌面コラボレーション企画に起用され、大きな注目を集める。以降、東京コレクションにおけるランウェイでのライブパフォーマンスをはじめ、数多くのドメスティックブランドとのコラボレーションを展開している。
2017年には拠点をドイツ・ベルリンに移し、現地のアートシーンおよびクラブカルチャーとの交流を通じて、表現のさらなる深化を図る。
そして2024年1月、長年にわたり秘めてきた「Pages」によるアート制作手法を初めて一般に公開。全作品を同アプリケーションのみで制作したサイケデリック・ポップアート展『PAGES ART』を東京で開催する。わずか2日間という短期間ながら、その革新的なアプローチと独自のビジュアル表現は大きな反響を呼び、各方面からコラボレーションの依頼が相次いだ。
同年夏には、自身が影響を受けたヴィンテージショップLeeLoo(渋谷)およびJAMMRU(大阪)にてPOP UPイベントを開催。さらに9月にはスウェーデン・ストックホルムにて初の海外個展を実施し世界各国から100名を超える来場者を迎えるなど、その活動はグローバルな広がりを見せている。
現在、SHO ASAKAWAのアートは、音楽・ファッション・現代アートの領域を自在に横断しながら、国内外の多様なクリエイターや観客から熱い注目を集め続けている。

WISH LESS gallery is excited to announce SHO ASAKAWA’s solo exhibition “PAGES ART” EXHIBITION 2025 SUMMER IN TOKYO.
— A New Visual Experience Where Color Comes Alive —
“Pages Art” is a groundbreaking series created using Apple’s word processing software, Pages—a tool never intended for design. By intentionally utilizing its limitations, SHO ASAKAWA has transformed it into an entirely new form of artistic expression, making this the first known instance of such an approach in the world.
The defining feature of this work is how it interacts with specific types of light—particularly gradient lighting. Under such conditions, the colors on screen appear to move. Though static images, they create the illusion of forms swaying and rippling, resulting in an immersive visual experience that is not just an optical illusion, but a reconstruction of perception and consciousness.
Beneath its pop and approachable surface lies an undercurrent of unease and psychedelic depth. These layers are deeply informed by ASAKAWA’s lived experiences within the underground music scene, which are reflected in the rhythms, compositions, and color palettes of the work.
Inspired by the visual effects of Victor Moscoso, a prominent figure of the 1960s–70s Flower Movement, this series captures a live, cinematic sensation—where applying multicolored light makes the artwork appear to move like a film. This is a sensory quality that cannot be conveyed through a phone or digital screen—it must be felt physically and in real time.
The influence of the late 1980s UK rave and psychedelic culture, known as the Second Summer of Love, also permeates the work. The colors, energy, and motifs are reminiscent of posters and record sleeves from that era, reimagined through a contemporary lens.
Additionally, the work draws inspiration from the optical illusion techniques of Akiyoshi Kitaoka, Japan’s leading expert in visual perception. As a result, viewers may feel the art engaging directly with their senses, triggering moments of perceptual disorientation and discovery.
Children laugh and say, “The colors are moving!”
Adults find themselves unknowingly drawn deeper into the experience.
“Pages Art” invites people of all ages and backgrounds to rediscover the pure joy of seeing—offering a bold new frontier in visual and psychedelic art.
[ Biography ]
Born in Ibaraki, Japan,
Sho Asakawa is a multidisciplinary creator whose work spans graphic design, illustration, music, and fashion. Based in Tokyo, he continues to expand his activities across international borders.
From a young age, he was drawn to culture deeply intertwined with music. At the age of 13, his encounter with the British culture magazine i-D became a turning point. Immersed in the sound of 1970s punk, he began drawing, picked up instruments, and started sewing his own clothes by hand—laying the foundations of his creative journey.
After graduating from high school, he enrolled in a fashion design school in Tokyo. In 2005, while still a student, he launched his career as the designer for the fashion brand VENUS ECCENTRIC, while simultaneously pursuing his music career in earnest.
In 2009, while creating artwork for his own record release, he discovered Apple’s word processing software Pages and recognized its potential as an artistic tool. Over the next 15 years, he independently researched and developed a unique graphic art technique using Pages, though he kept this method private for many years.
His Pages-based creative process has been applied across a wide range of fields including advertising, apparel, and music-related visual design, establishing him as a singular presence in Tokyo’s underground culture scene.
In 2011, his band PLASTICZOOMS was featured in a collaborative editorial project between legendary photographer Nobuyoshi Araki and luxury fashion house JIL SANDER, garnering significant attention. Since then, Asakawa has continued to collaborate with numerous domestic fashion brands and has delivered live performances on the runway of Tokyo Fashion Week.
In 2017, he relocated to Berlin, Germany, where he further deepened his practice through engagement with the city’s vibrant art and club culture scenes.
In January 2024, Asakawa finally unveiled his long-concealed Pages-based art technique to the public. He held a psychedelic pop art exhibition titled PAGES ART in Tokyo, where every piece was created entirely using Pages. Despite its brief two-day run, the exhibition drew a significant response and led to a wave of collaboration offers from various sectors.
That summer, he hosted pop-up events at vintage shops Shibuya LeeLoo and Osaka JAMMRU, both of which had profoundly influenced his creative roots. In September, he held his first solo exhibition abroad in Stockholm, Sweden, attracting over 100 attendees from across the globe—an event that marked a major step in the global expansion of his work.
Today, Sho Asakawa’s art continues to transcend the boundaries between music, fashion, and contemporary art, drawing keen interest from a wide range of creators and audiences worldwide.
