この度、原宿の老舗PUNKショップ「A STORE ROBOT」(ア ストア ロボット)にて、ロブ・キドニーの個展「KAITEN KIDNEY」を開催いたします。KAITEN KIDNEYとは、英国ブライトン大学でイラストレーションを勉強していた頃からのスタイルで、自分のアトリエでアイデアが“回転寿司”のように回っている様子を表しています。日々描き溜められた絵は、まるで皿の上に乗っかる魚のようにベルトコンベアで運ばれ、ロブの頭の中で巡回しています。作品制作や絵の仕事が来た時には、その中から好きなものをピックアップし、自由に組み合わせて構成していくのが“KAITEN KIDNEY”の技なのです。
本展は、過去3年間に蓄積されたロブお気に入りの絵の集大成といえるべき個展です。また、絵画作品だけでなくバッジやステッカーなどの人気グッズも豊富に取り揃えご紹介いたしますので、ぜひこの機会にお楽しみください。
Since I studied illustration at Brighton university I have always thought of my studio as kind of ‘Kaiten Sushi’ restaurant, where instead of plates of fish I am constantly adding drawings to the conveyor belt and when I receive a commission I can usually find what I need on my ‘KAITEN KIDNEY’.
This show contains some of my favourite images from my studio over the last 3 years.

Rob Kidney／ロブ・キドニー
1969年英国ブライトン出身。音楽やアパレル、雑誌などで活躍するアーティスト／イラストレーター。鮮やかな色と力強い手描きのラインでインパクトのあるイラストを多数手掛ける。Basement Jaxx(XL-Recordings), Ozone Rocks, Universal Music, BMG Japan, 祥伝社, Victor/Speedstar Records, avex music creative Inc. など様々な企業とコラボし、最近ではX-girlやCHUBBYGANGなどの子供服ブランドのデザインで人気。クラブやファッションショーなど各種イベントでのライブペイントも好評。2012年、東京・田端にアートギャラリーWISH LESSをオープンさせ、展示会のキュレーションを担う。2014年9月にはインテリアブランドunicoで家具へのライブペイントが話題を呼んだ。

Born in England. He studied illustration at Brighton University. Now based in Tokyo, with a wide global client base mainly in music and fashion. He has developed a reputation for his live painting and customizing abilities. His work is both raw and vibrant, with a strong hand-drawn line and an acid color palette. It always delivers a strong visual punch. During the last 5 years he has focussed on drawing teddy bears and other stuffed toys mainly using a 10B pencil, these drawings focus on the balance between simplicity and innocence, with a touch of mischievousness.
